Unbelievably this week we've had snow blizzards and two days of torrential rain causing flooding in places BUT today is mild and the land is green again so we took their rugs off and gave them all invigorating grooming sessions.
If the weather stays mild I will endeavour to play with Solly soon but I have a nasty feeling this week we are expecting more snow here!
Although not playing as such, everyday when horses are being fed (twice a day) I try to get out with Sol spending some undemanding time with him which I enjoy. Having the horses now at the backdoor it has been fascinating to watch their behaviour at any time of day and I have watched regularly the play sessions between Solly and Stormy and I hope to get some pictures of these soon.
Here as promised is a picture of the horses and our new home
This picture was from today at their first shoot on the estate. They did very very well, were very alert but not panicky.
The afternoon shoot was in their lower field where the pond is and they did move their feet a lot but again nothing panicky which I'm forever grateful for. I hope that the 'fireworks' cd that I've been playing has helped with this and I will continue to play it at feed time off and on so that they learn to associate this noise with something pleasant...FOOD! ;-)

Well it was a very mild and rainy end to 2007 and the New Year brought about a foot of snow with it which was a worry as we were scheduled to move home and horses this weekend (5-7th Jan) BUT we've been very lucky as yesterday (Sat) we managed to move a lot of household stuff and today with the roads being clear we moved all 5 horses to their new grazing.
Our new home is right next to the grazing we've got so we will be able to see the horses from our home which is fantastic for us.
With the move I took Solly with Stormy first. Both travelled well and they took advantage of the full hay nets along the way! lol. Next I took Fortune and Tara and dear Mark walked/rode Holly the whole way. Now we've moved from one Glen in Perthshire to the next one over, not sure how far in miles it is but Mark and Holly took 4 hours to do it! Both did fabulously and I for one am happy that's over now. Mark had to walk Holly as she was scrambling about in the trailer recently, due to her having had a broken hip as a youngster she may need the back lady out again, but hey ho all horses are now grazing outside our new house and we should be there tomorrow too!
I will endeavour to put piccie's up as soon as possible and then once the snow goes a bit it'll be back to some fun training!
